Q & A

Can I pick up my reservation and leave? No you are not able to pick up equipment and leave with it.

Regrettably, we have had to make a change to our policy. This is due to the potential liability issues that arise when equipment is taken off-site. As a result, we can no longer offer the option to pick up equipment and leave with it. Instead, we require that you use the equipment at one of our five locations, which are directly on a lake or river. Additionally, we kindly ask that you refrain from sharing equipment.

When do we start our season?

We open our rental locations depending on the water and weather conditions, which may vary slightly each season. The quickest way to check the season start is by choosing the location you want to access and initiating a reservation. Before purchasing, you will be provided with a calendar of availability. Alternatively, you can contact us for assistance!

Here are the season start dates for our locations:

-Morgan Falls Overlook Park. opens on weekends in April and seven days a week starting May.

- Lake Allatoona: Little River. opens on weekends in April and seven days a week starting May.

- Lake Allatoona: Red Top Mountain opens on weekends from mid to end of April.

- Lake Allatoona: Allatoona Landing. opens on weekends in April and 4 days a week starting May.

We prioritize your safety and enjoyment, so season start dates and shutdowns are directly related to our team's efforts to ensure your safety and enjoyment.

Age limit?

You have to be a minimum of 5 years of age and  35lbs,

 Weight limit?

The weight limit for Murphs Surf rental equipment is as follows:

- Single person kayak: 265lbs

- Double person kayak: 500lbs

- Paddleboard: 255lbs

- Tube: 265lbs

It's important to adhere to these weight limits for safety reasons.

How experienced do I need to be?

Flat water locations on Lake Allatoona are great for beginners! just remember if you're new to the sport stay closer to the shore and near the marina. Our river trips with kayaks need to have little more experience since the water is moving.

What Should I Bring?

We recommend bringing water, snacks, and appropriate clothing for your activity. It's also a good idea to expect to get wet if you'll be near water. If you're planning on bringing drinks, coolers are allowed but please avoid glass containers. The shop's offers dry bags, sunscreen, and outdoor apparel if needed. Additionally, you can keep important items like your keys at the check-in desks for safekeeping.

How do I book?

You can easily book with us through our website. We offer online booking 24/7, and once you've made your reservation, you'll receive a confirmation email and text message with all the necessary information. Our team is unable to make a reservation for you over the phone. During the process of making a reservation online, you are required to read, acknowledge, and accept the liability of your reservation. In addition, you will need to receive information. Our team will not take any walk-ups's after 5PM.

What happens if I can't make my reservation?

Hey there! Just a friendly reminder that if you make a reservation with us and fail to show up or call to cancel, unfortunately your reservation will not be eligible for a refund. However, we do offer a reservation protection policy for a small fee on our online booking system. This policy comes in handy in case you are unable to make your reservation, and you will be refunded by a third party provider instead of Murphs Surf. It's definitely a great way to protect your reservation for a small price.
